'Wasn't That Special' Season 22 Clips Package
As always, for those who have signed up for the podcast at the Executive Producer level, we send out notable video and newspaper clips that aided us in preparing for the episode. Below are some of the Saturday Night Live sketches and media clips we reference throughout the episode, to enhance the listening process.
Please help keep the podcast advertisement-free and upgrade to the Executive Producer level, which will keep these emails coming in the future!
(Although if you want to support us at a lower level and want to just hear the shows, you can do that, too!)
Here are some of the materials we discuss throughout the Season Twenty Two episode:
Tom Brokaw Pre-Tapes
The best sketch of the season, brought over from the then-defunct Dana Carvey Show. The SNL Carvey hosted this season was the best of the year, for obvious reasons.
Celebrity Jeopardy!
Soon to become a classic recurring sketch, it started off a little slower before eventually hitting its stride.
Ross Perot on Larry King Live
The cold open from the Carvey episode.
Harry Caray: Space, the Infinite Frontier
There have been better Harry Caray impressions throughout the years, but Ferrell unchained is glorious.
Cobras and Panthers
One of the favorite sketches from this year for podcast host Scot - Norm Macdonald spells out how ridiculous musicals are.
Rolf in the KKK
One of the weirder recurring characters this season was Colin Quinn’s “Rolf,” a racist/Nazi who was supposed to be funny because he spoke like a regular guy. This became a common writing formula throughout the season, such as when Will Ferrell’s Unabomber character became a lovable lout.
La Policia Noticia
One of podcast co-host Christian’s favorite forgotten sketches of the year. Mostly because there is farting.
Big Brawn
There weren’t a lot of commercials this year, but this is one of the better ones.
Shop at Home Network
