The Lebron/Jordan comparison would make a lot more sense near the top when you're talking, say, Ferrell vs Murphy. Lebron/Jordan is NOT a peak vs longevity argument (Jordan vs Kareem fits that a little bit better) because it's pretty much an indistinguishable dead heat on peak value too.
For the record, Lebron passed Jordan a few years ago by ANY rational measure. ;)
And, for the same reason, Ferrell over Murphy when we get to the top five!
This has been your unscheduled basketball GOAT interruption.
* are you judging Paul Shaffer's acting as wooden by virtue of his Don Kirshner impression? I've never seen "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert", but Shaffer says in his memoir that his wooden performance was part of his characterization of Kirshner.
* when you say Gail Matthius is "the highest ranking cast member from season 6", you of course mean among "the people who were fired by the end of season 6", which does not include Eddie Murphy or Joe Piscopo, nor does it include Robin Duke or Tim Kazurinsky, who were technically part of season 6 by virtue of being in Dick Ebersol's s6e13.
* Lorne Michaels clearly wanted Michael McKean to replace Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton, but McKean said he thought was brought in to play like "David Spade's dad" in sketches and wasn't interested in being political.
Wow, based on your rankings I imagine Chris Guest is going to be insufferable to Shearer and McKean on the press tour for the new Tap movie.

I'm originally from Chicago, so legally the rational measures involving MJ hold no weight.
Fair!
Janeane Garofalo was in some good sketches as a main character. She did not like her time on the male dominated show.
Peter and Tom were in the famous 'Douchebag' sketch on the last season 5 show. No😯😲
Based on the list of people excluded from the rankings and the cast members mentioned thus far, it is safe to assume you forgot about Chris Elliott?
My running thoughts:

Shaffer is based on more than just that Kirshner sketch, which I know is attempting to get close to the real-life Don.
Yes, correct. Matthius is the highest-ranked member of the cast that started S6 not named Joe Piscopo.
Thankfully, the show found an OK Clinton impressionist.
