Oh, speaking of prescient-ness, granted I’ve gone down a few rabbit holes thanks to Bill Hader’s ranking on the Saturday Night Network’s All-Time Cast Member rankings so it’s in my mind, but when listening to the clip of Koppel discussing the assassin with the criminal analyst, Keith Morrison doing an “OOOOOOHHHH! REEEAAAAALLLYYY NOW!” and eye brow arch and creepy smirk/grin came to mind! ;)

Very similar vibes there, indeed!

Personally I think it would have been easier to take if the “continuing coverage” of Buckwheat was a satirical reaction to John Lennon’s back in Dec of 1980.

Yeah constant coverage, especially when, like Regan’s, the target survived, is overkill and in a way the series predicted the OTT nature of the 24 hour news outlets that were just around the corner back in 1983.

But, IDK, something about government officials, leaders of socio-political movements, or notable heads of any sort of...well a Pope like person is the leader I’m struggling to define as one of those persons, you can make a case that the OTT, cutting into regular broadcasting coverage is a bit more appropriate to do, even if it’s repeating the same stuff we’ve known for hours and replaying the same footage at different angles and speeds.

IDK, just feels again it’s the writers room’s slant in where the inspiration for how the runner would go seems a bit “really, I bet you if that was Carter, you would be using a different breaking news story as the “inspiration” for the “developing story” nature of this runner!”
