It hasn’t been that often that Lorne Michaels brings back an identical cast from the year before, but that’s exactly what happened after Season 36 and into Season 37.
Not letting me edit, but Asbury Park, NJ is I guess a bit northern/middle-ish part of the whole Jersey Shore area of New Jersey, so it’s not that long of a non-driving/non local commuter (dozen or so stops) train) trip to the heart of New York City.
So the Foo Fighters booked a gig on May 19th to be the Saturday night headline for Jon Bon Jovi’s Bamboozle festival (ALL DAY event) on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
Months later Dave gets a call saying Mick Jagger wants him to help out on his appearance on SNL. You DO NOT turn down a request like that from literal rock royalty!
Then he realized he just double booked himself! So they do the concert in Asbury, then took a helicopter over to mid-town Manhattan to do their musical cameo with Mick and others!
