I got a fever! And the only prescription! Is to read more about More Cowbell!

Going down a Wiki rabbit hole on the song and sketch, and “Legendary Producer Bruce Dickinson” has one of the most interesting creation stories I can think of in the world of fictionalizing new characters or merging multiple real characters into a fictional one for the sake of a story:

“Christopher Walken portrays producer Bruce Dickinson. The song was actually co-produced by David Lucas, who had discovered the band and co-produced their first album, and also Agents of Fortune and Spectres. The actual Bruce Dickinson was a mid-level manager at Columbia Records whose name appears on a Blue Öyster Cult reissue CD and a greatest hits compilation as the "reissue producer". The SNL intern who was sent out to get the record got a "hits" compilation CD instead of Agents of Fortune.” 😳😬👀🤨🤣🙄🤷🏻‍♂️

And this is 2000. We’re well into the information superhighway era of the internet! And the task wasn’t that obscure that the intern was heading towards some second hand record shop bin in the Village or Williamsburg on a wild goose chase!

Oh well though. Better off not being a real person that would have been in the studio anyway with it being a one-off sketch and all I suppose

Scot: I guess I always assumed it was some kind of tribute to Iron Maiden's singer.

I think understand Christian’s grumpy old man soapbox rant… but is hyperbole really a problem? I mean, if you live on twitter that’s kind of to be expected about anything. But I also think there’s just a lot of different people with a lot of different opinions and comedic sensibilities compared to you two, not just one dude saying something is “the best sketch ever” or “the best episode ever” about 1000 different things. Just 2 cents from a sensitive dude who also thinks the Charles Grodin episode is probably one of the 50 or so best episodes and felt personally attacked by your continued insistence that it’s not good.
