Episode 1 was a little underwhelming. I wonder if sticking so close to the template we have come to expect from current SNL (topical political cold open - monolog - fake commercial - band - update etc) is too much of crutch. It's kind of like how the American pilot for the Office was essentially a remake of an ep from the UK version. But obviously the Office was able to find its own voice, so maybe SNL UK can do the same.
Interesting to hear that it's all actors. Wasn't that overwhelmingly the case with season 11, which led to frustration from the writers when the cast couldn't properly perform what they had written?
